Elected Officials Academy General Information

EOA

Held in the Spring (February - April) of each year, the Elected Officials Academy sponsored by Kent State University The Center for Public Administration and Public Policy offers government officials  an opportunity to learn strategies and solutions to meeting the challenges of a changing government landscape head-on. Guest speakers will discuss the barriers and opportunities created by budget limitations, technological advances, and changes in government structure. This unique course also provides officials with a chance to meet graduate students seeking a career in the public sector. These interactions not only help to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of governing; they also offer access to the skills and ideas of a new generation. Throughout this academy, students and officials will discuss ways in which the theory and practice of public policy and governance can come together to improve both the function and perception of government.
