Overview
Welcome to Kent State University!
We are pleased to have you join the Kent State University community. Destination Kent State Advising and Registration (or "DKS") is a mandatory, overnight orientation program for new first year students. Students stay overnight in a residence hall. The 1 1/2 day program will allow you to meet one-on-one with your college Academic Advisor to plan your fall schedule, review placement assessment results, and gather information from many campus offices. Your parents or other members of your cheering section, are encouraged to attend. Family members can commute from home, stay in a local hotel, or request on-campus housing. Parents and other guests stay in a residence hall separate from where you will be staying. Family members have the opportunity to learn more about Kent State including financial aid, residence services, and helping you make a smooth transition to college life.
You must register for your mandatory 1 1/2 day visit by logging into your FlashLine account. Registration begins on March 2nd. There are 25 different DKS programs from which you can select. The first date is May 29, 2012.
Staying in the residence halls is mandatory for new students (exception will be made for students over the age of 21).
We encourage family members to participate in the program.
Although the Destination Kent State Advising and Registration program is free for students, there are fees for family members who attend the program. Payment is required at the time of program registration
