MACC_13
Kent State Athletic Training Students are exposed to two athletic training rooms while in their on-campus clinical rotations. One of these facilities is housed in the MAC Center building and is known as the MAC Center athletic training room. The sports that primarily work out of this athletic training room are men's basketball, women's basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, volleyball, and cross country. The other athletic training room is located at the football stadium. This athletic training room is known as the John Faulstick athletic training room. This athletic training room was recently renamed this past year after John Faulstick, who dedicated 30 years of his life to Kent State as the head athletic trainer. The sports that primarily work out of this athletic training room are football, baseball, softball, women's soccer, field hockey, and track & field. Within these facilities there are currently 6 full-time staff certified athletic trainers and 6 ATEP faculty members that serve as preceptors for our athletic training students. Additionally, there are 4 graduate assistants that also act as preceptors to our students at these facilities.
ATEP Competency Laboratory
Untitled
The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) has outstanding facilities that provide all the equipment essential to the acquisition of clinical and academic skills. The ATEP recently underwent a massive renovation that now provides a state-of-the-art facility for students to practice their clinical skills in. This laboratory also supports current research that is going on within the ATEP. Adjacent to the competency labs is the ATEP classroom. These rooms can be located at 221 and 222 MACC Annex.
Off-Campus Clinical Rotation Sites
Kent State ATEP uses affiliate sites to supplement on-campus experiences. Several high schools (Kent Roosevelt, Green, St. Vincent-St. Mary, Tallmadge, Stow Monroe Falls) provide additional sites for athletic training students within the program. Two clinics and their satellite sites - Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health Care Systems - provide clinical sites for our students. At each of these sites there are clinical instructors with diverse and unique backgrounds that provide supervision to our students. Each of these affiliate sites has a variety of athletic training equipment and supplies which provides the athletic training students the opportunity to experience several different professional venues prior to graduation. These facilities also help support the general medical experience for our athletic training students. You can get additional information about each site by clicking on the links below.
