Philanthropic Projects

If you are considering charitable donations to nonprofit organizations, the CDC maintains an account at the Kent State University Foundation.  Donations are used for the many needs we have that the fee-driven budget cannot satisfy.  Individuals may earmark the donation for one of the following school-wide projects or specify one of their own:

Robin McManus Scholarship to benefit families of young children.  The intent is to honor Robin's many contributions to 1) the undergraduate program in early childhood education through her supervision of student teachers, and 2) her role as a teacher of toddlers at the CDC.  Robin was a caring, compassionate, and skilled teacher who cared deeply about young children and their families.  Recipients of this scholarship will be CDC student families who are in need of financial support for their children's education and care.

Gardening Project:  Through several recent donations we have been able to start a fund to support the school's commitment to engaging children in studying the life cycle of plants, the work of planting, caring for and harvesting foods, and the study of the many forms of life found in and on the earth.

Studio Renovation:  When our school was constructed, the space now utilized by all children in the school as a studio was designed to be a children's library.  This room is in need of major renovation in order to offer children more opportunities for use of materials for expressive development.

Donations, noting that they are for the Child Development Center, should be sent directly to the KSU Foundation at P.O. Box 5190, Kent, Ohio 44242.  Please indicate which of the school wide projects you would like to earmark.

As always we greatly appreciate the many forms of support for our school.
