The mission of the CEAC is to establish and review policies and procedures with regard to all field work (field experience - student teaching): including eligibility, placement, continuation, assessment, advising for student teaching, and licensure AND to review requests from teacher candidates for exceptions to student teaching policies and decide on approval or disapproval of requested exceptions.
The Curriculum Committee recommends changes in program design, implementation, evaluation and courses.
Prior to the development of the new College of Education, Health, and Human Services (EHHS) in 2005, the faculty and administration of the College and Graduate School of Education had been involved in a variety of diversity initiatives. Thus, current efforts of the College Diversity Committee are only the latest in a series of projects to attend to issues of diversity in the College.
This body advises the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs and Graduate Education on policies and procedures related to graduate education in the College. As such, the body is a forum for the discussion of ideas and a means of communication among the various programs. The body also serves as an appeals committee for graduate students who want to appeal dismissal decisions. Following an examination of the appeal the body makes a recommendation to the Associate Dean.
The mission of the Dean's Graduate Advisory Council is to provide the voice of the student body within the college by giving feedback on issues and upcoming decisions. Additionally, the members provide a resource for the college to inform the student body of upcoming events. Graduate Advisory Council members represent their program, college, and Kent State University, and therefore demonstrate leadership qualities and an interest and enthusiasm for their school. Graduate Advisory Council members participate in council meetings throughout the year, network with faculty and staff, including the Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, and act as representatives for their program.
The purpose of the Council is to encourage research and scholarly activity as well as externally-funded activity with the College. The Council is advisory to the Research and Evaluation Bureau relative to opportunities of the Bureau and to the connections possible between Faculty, students and the Bureau.
Coordinators of teacher education program across the university meet monthly during the academic year to advise the Director of Teacher Education on policies, procedures, and curriculum in teacher education. They also create and review assessments to ensure that teacher candidates have the knowledge, skills, and disposition to work in schools.
This Council advises the Dean on all technology matters in the College. The Council meets, as needed, to develop technology plans, support research and implementation of technologies for teaching, learning and the management of information, review requests by Faculty, administrators, and staff concerning technology; to support external funding requests for technology applications consistent with the College mission; and to evaluate the status of technology implementation in the College.
EHHS Undergraduate Program Coordinators meet monthly during the academic year to discuss policies, procedures, and curriculum related to undergraduate programs in the College.
