1. What years graduated? Which programs?

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, 1978, and a Music Education and Ohio Teacher Certification from the Fine and Professional Arts College. Also, I earned a master’s of arts in
Music Theory in 1980 and a Ph.D. in 1988 in Educational Administration.

What were some of your biggest challenges after graduating that shaped your career?
Career opportunities were very available and diverse. Each degree provided more opportunities and more diverse careers. It was challenging to pick one at each phase of degree development. Although I knew that I wanted to teach, there were many school districts and universities that were in the realm of possibilities. Of course, one could only do one thing at a time.

3. Most significant accomplishment?
Raising my family and having an impact on students and others around me are the most important things that I do. Yet, to be specific, I co-authored a Corwin Press book called "Transforming the Culture of School Leadership." My co-author was Dr. Janice Hutchison, another Kent State College of EHHS professor. The book was published in 2005.

4. Currently employed?
I am the Superintendent of Schools for the Kent City School District. I have done this for the last five years. I also have been an adjunct for Kent State's College of Education since the 1990s.
