Graduate Student Services

Welcome to the Office of Graduate Student Services website. Our office is a full student service office which provides support for students' progress throughout their programs. This includes maintaining student records, and clearing students for graduation in the College of Education, Health, & Human Services.

Our website has been designed to help current and prospective students find information they need. If you cannot find the information you are seeking, please feel free to contact the staff in the Office of Graduate Student Services. We will be more than happy to help you.

Graduate Handbook

Week of July 8, 2013 - Spring 2013 diplomas mailed to students at permanent addresses.

Important Graduate Dates for Summer 2013

May 20          Intersessions begin

June 10       Summer I and II classes begin

June 14        Last day for those hoping to graduate August 2013 to file for approved dissertation or thesis proposal

June 14        Deadline to apply for graduate level August 2013 graduation

July 3            Final date for oral defense of graduation level dissertation of thesis

July 15          Summer III classes begins

July 19          Deadline to:

- Submit dissertation electronically only

- Submit thesis electronically

- Submit signature pages to 409 White Hall

July 26          All incomplete grades from previous semesters must be cleared

August 9      Final Deadline for all dissertation corrections 

August 17    Commencement

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF THESES AND DISSERTATIONS

"The Guidelines for Preparation of Theses and Dissertations are designed to assist students and typists to maintain the high degree of accuracy and consistency which are hallmarks of well-written documents. Prior to the thesis/dissertation process, students should familiarize themselves with the procedures described in the guidelines. It is assumed that the guidelines will be used in conjunction with the approved style guide.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Beginning spring semester 2010, all theses and dissertations will shift to the recently released American Psychological Association, 6th ed. as their reference guide. The link below will take you to an APA Cheat Sheet provided by the University Libraries giving you some of the highlights of this new edition. A list of deadline dates for items such as graduation, oral defense of dissertation, oral defense of thesis, withdraw and exit from current semester, etc. Also, dates of when the semester begins and ends, graduation commencement ceremony, and dates for when the University is closed due to holidays.

Graduate Assistantship Application

An appointment made by KSU to full-time graduates who display a high level of scholarship and academic excellence. The award is merit based, not need-based, and includes stipend and tuition.
