Graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology who wish to become certified to work in the public schools will spend a semester student teaching in local school districts. All cooperating teachers with whom we place our student teachers must hold both the Certificate of Clinical Competence and Ohio licensure in the appropriate area.

The pupils in the schools range in age from preschool through adolescence and include the multiply handicapped, hearing impaired, learning disabled, developmentally handicapped, and children whose only problems are in speech and language.

During the student teaching semester, students enroll concurrently in the following courses:

• SP&A 64528 Student Teaching in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (4-8 hours)
• SP&A 64525 Public School Techniques in Communication Disorders (3 hours)
