Educational Interpreter

The educational interpreter curriculum is designed to prepare interpreters to work with children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) in educational and community settings. Graduates of the program will be eligible to receive state of Ohio licensure in Educational Interpreting (K-12).
Students in the educational interpreting program are immersed in three years of ASL instruction and engage in comparative analysis of ASL and English through the study of linguistics, sociolinguistics, and discourse analysis. The program includes approximately 500 hours of practicum experiences. Coursework prepares students for RID and EIPA national certification tests.
