STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Mission Statement
The mission of the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs is to support the teaching and learning process and the development of the whole student by providing quality programs and services that enhance student learning and student success. The division also supports the institution through a focus on student recruitment and retention initiatives designed to enrich the university community and the lives of students, faculty, staff, families and the larger community. Strong commitments to operational efficiencies, user-friendly services, special student populations, technological advancements, partnership building, a quality residential experience and the development of the whole student are in evidence throughout the 16-unit division.
EMSA DEPARTMENTS
Admissions
Specializes in student recruitment; evaluation of undergraduate student applications; and campus tours.
Career Services Center
Offers comprehensive services including career counseling, internship and job search assistance, resume writing, interview preparation, on-campus interviews; career fairs; student employment and testing for credit.
Center for Adult and Veteran Services
Provides advising, counseling, orientation, workshops and other programs for undergraduate adult students with multiple life responsibilities including services for single parents and veterans; Oversees veterans benefits.
Center for Student Involvement
Includes student organizations, fraternities and sororities, commuter student services and programs, leadership training, leadership awards and recognition, campus-wide programming, court-ordered community service, student governance and University-Community Liaison.
Dean of Students and Student Ombuds
Provides leadership support for students, parents, faculty, staff and surrounding community in the development of a co-curricular environment that enhances student success. Ombuds' services assist students in resolving concerns, complaints and grievances through established channels.
Dining Services
Comprehensive Dining Services across campus from snacks to full services dining and catering.
Office of Student Conduct
Handles adjudication of campus policy and law violations.
Kent Student Center
Gathering place for the university community offering a variety of services, programs and activities for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. Home to Kent Student Center Programming, University Scheduling and Conference Bureau, University Bookstore, Banquet Sales, FLASHCard Office and numerous dining options.
Recreational Services
Encompasses comprehensive recreational services including aquatics, fitness and wellness, informal recreation, sport clubs, tournament sports and an outdoor adventure center all housed in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The Kent State Ice Arena includes two rinks which are used for learn-to-skate, hockey, broomball and open skating programs for the entire community. It is also home to the Kent Skating Club.
Residence Services
Oversees on-campus living for undergraduate students, security escort service, special program halls and learning communities, hall government (hall council and KIC) and guest and conference housing.
Student Accessibility Services
Provides academic accommodations and coordinates support services and assistive equipment for students with physical, psychological and learning disabilities.
Student Financial Aid
Oversees financial aid counseling and assistance with the application process for federal, state and institutional financial aid such as grants, loans and scholarships.
University Bookstore
University-owned retail store contracted through Follett High Education Group offers apparel, software, books, textbooks, book buyback, textbook rental and other academic supplies; home to the Apple® Authorized Campus Store.
University Health Services
Administers health services for students. Comprehensive outpatient services include office visits, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, laboratory services and women's clinic. The site also includes a 24-hour nurse helpline, the Office of Health Promotion and Psychological Services.
University Registrar
Administers registration; schedule adjustment; transcript services; enrollment verification; academic student records; name and student ID changes; grade and diploma processing; schedule of classes and enrollment reporting.
Office of the Vice President, Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
Provides leadership and direction for divisional goals including oversight for institutional enrollment management, student recruitment and retention, and for many key student support services.
