Fellowships

University Fellowship

Award Details:  Each doctoral department/school is eligible for up to two University Fellowships.  University Fellows receive a doctoral level service appointment for Fall semester (funded by the department/school/college) and a non-service University Fellowship appointment for Spring semester (funded by Graduate Studies).  The stipend for Fall will be one-half an academic year doctoral stipend (charged to the graduate assistantship budget of the department/school/college).  The stipend for Spring will be one-half an academic year doctoral stipend paid by Graduate Studies.  Fees for dissertation registration during both semesters will be provided from the budget of the student's department/school/college.

Criteria:  Doctoral students who have passed candidacy examinations and who are prepared to enroll for Dissertation II only may be nominated.  The University Fellow must be committed full-time to dissertation research or writing.  Any change in the student's status requires notification to the Division of Graduate Studies.

Nominations:  Graduate coordinators will submit all nominations to the Division of Graduate Studies.

Please ensure that the possible recipient of a University Fellowship understands that the only appropriate enrollment for the academic year will be for the writing of a dissertation.  The recipient will enroll in Dissertation II only for each of the two semesters.

The award recipient is subject to approval by the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Dean of the student's college.
