Welcome! Our primary mission is to provide an enriched educational experience for academically motivated and talented students at Kent State University. Each academic year, the Department of English at Kent State University awards student prizes in creative writing, critical writing and writing in freshman English courses.

Joseph Duffy, Ph.D., has been named the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Honors Alumni Award.

Linda Spurlock, PhD, Department of Anthropology, is the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Honors Faculty Award.

Research Uncorked

The series will feature monthly discussions that will showcase many various research areas conducted by faculty at Kent State. Suzy D’Enbeau, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Communication Studies, will introduce the series.

The Honors College invites nominations for the 2015 Distinguished Honors Faculty Award. The Distinguished Honors Faculty Award recognizes excellence in Honors teaching based upon years of service, advising of independent work, and a proven record of strong teaching performance.

Admissions & Scholarships

The Honors College seeks to recruit a diverse student body that fosters a community of academic excellence. As a student in the Honors College, you will be a part of both a large university and an intimate community of dedicated scholars. You will have at your disposal the resources of a major public research institution while attending small classes with diverse topics that emphasize participation in dynamic discussions.

Senior Honors Thesis/Project

The Senior Honors Thesis/Project is a 6-credit-hour independent project. It may be a research, creative, or applied project and is completed under the direction of a faculty member.

Study Away & Study Abroad

The Honors College encourages all of its students to acquire broader national and global perspectives and appreciate cross-cultural values and achievements.
