National Collegiate Honors Council

The National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) has a mission to serve Honors professionals and students and to advance undergraduate education.

NCHC values an atmosphere that promotes academic opportunity and challenge for Honors students and faculty. Within this intellectual environment, members of Honors communities demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and excellence. Through Honors experience, participants realize enhanced personal, social, and intellectual development. The NCHC recognizes the importance of life-long learning and social responsibility in preparing individuals for an increasingly competitive world. These beliefs and values are reinforced among member institutions through the collegiality and shared purpose of the NCHC.

NCHC holds an annual conference in late fall semester. Through the years, many Kent Honors students have attended this conference not only as observers, but as presenters. Several former students have also been recognized with the highest NCHC student honors- the Portz Award- for their thesis work.
