The Honors College strives to provide a community that fosters a sense of belonging and stability that helps each student find his/her place in a large educational environment. 

The Stopher-Johnson Complex houses the Honors College learning community and is located in the historic heart of the Kent Campus. These halls were rebuilt from the ground-up, following the footprint of the original buildings in order to preserve the historic May 4th site. The complex occupies a prime location, along the pedestrian esplanade and close to the Kent Student Center and University Library. The halls include classrooms that enable the college to offer most of its Freshman Honors Colloquia, along with a number of other Honors classes, on site. Honors College administrative offices, an art gallery, study lounges, a library/lounge- all with wireless Internet access, are also located in the complex. Stopher and Johnson Halls are the residence halls that serve as the home to more than 440 Honors students. Students are not required to live in Stopher-Johnson Complex to be members of the Honors College.

The Residence Hall Council helps plan events and programs. You'll have plenty of opportunities to meet students with a wide range of interests. Policies regarding courtesy hours, quiet hours, and visitation are established by Residence Services, yet each resident has the opportunity to be an active community member by participating in Hall Council. Our halls are well secured, and living areas are restricted to residents and their guests.
