Scholarships

Entering freshmen and current college students may receive merit scholarships through the Honors College. A complete list of all Honors College scholarships as well as the minimum requirements and required information is displayed on the Student Financial Aid website.

Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen

The Honors College awards renewable merit scholarships to entering freshmen who have the potential for superior scholarship and creative work at the university. Entering freshmen are considered for membership and scholarships as part of the admissions process.

Honors scholarships for incoming freshmen are awarded based on academic credentials. These scholarships range from $1000 to full in-state tuition, room, board, and books. Scholarship recipients can retain their scholarships for eight semesters as long as they meet Honors College membership and scholarship requirements.

Scholarships for College Applicants

Students who do not hold an Honors College scholarship and who have a 3.5 cumulative GPA may be considered for a limited number of $1000 Honors Academic Achievement Awards that will provide assistance for the remaining semesters in a four-year program.

Scholarship Renewal Requirements

Honors College scholarships are available to undergraduate students at the Kent Campus for a maximum of eight semesters, provided the recipient maintains a 3.25 cumulative GPA and meets all Honors College membership requirements.

Scholarship Renewal Requirements for Select Awards

  • Honors Scholar in Residence (HSR or HRC)

Students holding scholarships for residence hall fees are eligible for these funds as long as they live in the residence halls and meet academic requirements for scholarship renewal. Students who move off campus automatically lose the HSR or HRC portion of their scholarship.
  • Honors Departmental Awards

Honors departmental scholarships will be withdrawn should the student change to another major.

The Honors College awards merit scholarships on a competitive basis to students who demonstrate the potential for superior scholarship and creative work at the university.
