Honors College Advising

Design a different and more exciting undergraduate experience. An education is not a checklist; you have choices. How will you best use your Honors College experiences to make the most of your years here? You and your Honors Advisor are partners in the learning process.

You have lots of support along the way- an advising support team. Your Honors College Advisor will assist you in how to best use your Honors experiences (Honors College Experiences). Your primary advisor will assist you with all the procedures in your degree-granting college. Your faculty advisor will assist you with upper division course selection and career information. Take the initiative to seek out the help that is available to you. Be an active, responsible team member in your own education.

Your Honors Advisor: Your Reliable Advocate
You receive an Honors advisor assignment when you enter the Honors College. You will typically work with this advisor until graduation unless you request a change. The Honors advisor is available to discuss both academic and personal concerns as well as assist you with referrals to appropriate faculty and/ or campus services.

Meet the Honors College Advisors!

Who is my Honors advisor?

If you are unsure of your assigned Honors College advisor, please contact the Honors College at (330) 672-2312.

How does my Honors advisor help me?
Academic advising sessions are essential for pre-registration planning. Your advisor will review your Honors status, provide information about Honors scholarships and Honors College experiences, and initiate or recommend contacts with appropriate department and collegial faculty/advisors.  Your advisor will also encourage and support you and initiate referrals if appropriate. Over the course of your undergraduate career, Honors advising sessions should contribute to the resolution of immediate academic concerns as well as engage you in exploring long-range academic and career choices.

Campus Advising Offices

Academic advising is a key component of the academic mission of Kent State University. It is important for all students at all points in the educational process. Students are assigned to a primary advisor in a college, school, or advising unit based upon their stated interest, academic record, and selection procedures for some programs. Students who are admitted to the Honors College also maintain a membership in one of the degree-granting colleges/schools. To schedule an appointment with your primary college advisor, click here.
