Centennial Court C & D… Down on the Farm

Instead of spending a relaxing Saturday morning sleeping in, ten students recently spent their Saturday morning painting a wheelchair ramp and moving bales of hay and straw at Hiram Farm Living and Learning Community in Hiram, Ohio. On behalf of Centennial Court C and D, the residents recently visited Hiram Farm to reflect the department of Residence Services commitment to community partnerships.

Hiram Farm is a non-profit organization serving adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Farm allows participants to work with farm animals and to create arts and crafts that they sell in a store located on the Hiram Farm property.  More information about Hiram Farm can be found here.

Kent’s College of Education, Health and Human Services’ Professional Development and Outreach office offers an Autism Spectrum Intervention Specialist graduate certificate. Information on the program is available here.

CCCD's next community service trip is Nov. 10. Interested residents can see RHD Marquita Rodgers for more information.
