Just how much energy does a residence hall consume? Explore the information below and view the electricity used throughout the residence halls of Kent State University.

During October 2012 Residence Services hosted the annual “Do it in the Dark” energy reduction competition, putting residence hall vs. residence hall in a battle to reduce electricity for two weeks. An added challenge for saving energy this fall was that NE Ohioans experienced some pretty dramatic temperature swings from pleasantly warm to downright cold (effects of Superstorm Sandy for example) that created some extra energy demand throughout the residences halls in the latter half of the competition. But DESPITE this challenge, the extra effort of the KSU resident’s to save electricity in the halls did result in an overall reduction over these two weeks! Good work Flashes!
