Bullying in the Workplace - How to Recognize It and How to Stop It

In this online course you will learn about a sometimes subtle form of violence called bullying. After completing this course you will be able to identify bullying behaviors, distinguish between performance management and bullying, explain the effect of bullying has on the workplace, select an appropriate strategy for dealing with a bully and state the consequences of bullying another employee.

Bullying in the Workplace: Manager Version - How to Recognize It and How to Stop It

Workshop # OBWM

This online course on bullying was created specifically for supervisors and managers to help them recognize and proactively address workplace bullying. After completing this course, managers will be able to identify bullying behaviors, distinguish between performance management and bullying, explain the effect bullying has on the workplace, select an appropriate strategy for dealing with a bully, state the consequences of bullying another employee and select a course of action to prevent workplace bullying or respond to a concern about workplace bullying.

Managing Conflict

Constructive conflict resolution draws on the knowledge and experience of peacekeepers, arbitrators, and mediators who are applying their considerable abilities to one basic question: “How can you find constructive ways of resolving conflict so that people are able to express and work through their differences without the risk of, or necessity of, damage to one another?” In this online course you will learn to develop inventive techniques for solving conflicts and how to perform a step by step process for successful conflict resolution.

Preventing Harassment on Campus

Workshop # OPHC

Customized to the Kent State environment, this course provides employees with the information they need to prevent and report sexual harassment and other forms of workplace harassment. Interactive scenarios display the "gray area" situations involving all types of unlawful harassment, including race, national origin and religion.

Preventing Workplace Violence

Workshop # OPWV

This course clarifies the nature and scope of workplace violence and identifies some of the best practices for identification and prevention. Participants will gain an understanding of early warning signs, find out how to respond effectively in a violent situation and learn about university resources that are available. The course features some thought-provoking vignettes and video clips from subject matter experts. All employees whether they have supervisory roles or not, are encouraged to take the course.

Workplace Ethics

Workshop # OWE

Most employees do not knowingly violate a law or policy. Many ethical violations occur when an employee is faced with a difficult choice that requires the employee to balance competing interests where the right thing to do is not clear. In this training module you will learn about Kent State policies regarding ethical conduct on issues like conflict of interest, use of university assets including information technology, intellectual property, OSHA examples and EEO situations.
