Our TECH Team

The Tech Spot TECHnicians include full-time staff and students, ready to assist you with your personal computing needs.  They are given exceptional training and many of them stay with us through graduation. 

Student TECHnicians from The Tech Spot have earned full-time jobs and internships at many top companies and organizations, including Apple Inc., The J. M. Smucker Company, Newell Rubbermaid, Case Western Reserve University, EMC, The Walt Disney Company, Progressive Insurance, and right here at Kent State University.

Joey D 2011

JOEY, TECHnician

Joey is a graduate student and this is his 4th year at The Tech Spot (fifth at Kent State).  His bachelor's degree was in Computer Technology with an associate's degree in Applied Business.  He's currently studying for a master's in Computer Technology.

Dan N 2011

DAN, TECHnician

Dan is a 4th year student at Kent State majoring in Computer Technology.  His plans after school are to "make monies somewhere."

NOAH, TECHnician

Noah is a second-year Computer Information Systems major with a minor in Chemistry.  He hopes to work in IT management after receiving his degree.

BRIAN, TECHnician

Brian is a Junior at Kent State, majoring in Computer Information Systems with a minor in International Business.  After graduation he plans to design/develop video games or work for Google.

Fun facts: Likes to play dodgeball, go biking and play video games.

Tom F 2011

TOM, TECHnician

Tom is a senior at Kent State majoring in Computer Information Systems with a Management minor.  After school, he hopes to find a job that he enjoys going to and start making a dent in his student loans.

Fun facts: "I have this bad habit of buying video games that I think look awesome and then never get around to taking them out of the shrink wrap."

Kevin is a 2nd year Electronic Media Production major.  He would enjoy getting into video editing/production after graduation.

MIKE CARSON, Sr. IT User Support Analyst

Mike received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Kent State University in Computer Technology with a Networking concentration.  He now works full time for The Tech Spot, overseeing operations and managing warranty computer repair and processing.

CHRISTOPHER HALLAHAN, Lead IT User Support Analyst, IS

Chris received his Bachelor's in Electronic Media and Master's in User Experience Design from Kent State University.  Now working primarily with the Helpdesk Management group, he has worked closely with The Tech Spot for over 6 years as a student and full time staff member.  Chris develops marketing/communications for The Tech Spot and maintains the Helpdesk online support site.

Wendy 2011

WENDY SHIH, Manager of Information Technology

Wendy has been with Kent State University for 14 years.  She holds an MBA in Management & Information Systems.  At ResNet and, most recently, The Tech Spot, she works to smooth out the wrinkles, strategize, plan, implement, promote, hire and oversee operations.  She also manages the online and phone operations of Kent State University's Helpdesk.

Favorite TECHnology:  New: WWW, WIFI, Old: Gopher, NeXT and SE30.
Dislike: 5 1/4 disc to store WordPerfect files and when WordPerfect only ran in DOS.

Fun Facts: Enjoys tennis and hiking.
