National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

The Kent State University branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is an organization that aims to improve the political, educational, social and economic status of minority groups; to eliminate racial prejudice; to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of racial discrimination; and to take all lawful action to secure its elimination, consistent with the efforts of the national organization and in conformity with the Articles of Incorporation of the Association, its Constitution and By-Laws and as directed by the National Board of Directors.

To inform the KSU community of problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to achieve racial equality throughout campus and in the surrounding communities economically, educationally, socially, and politically; to inform the Kent State community of and instill in them an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of colors contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership.
