Willie Oglesby is a member of the founding faculty at the College of Public Health. He is an associate professor of health policy and management and also serves as the assistant director of the Office of Public Health Practice and Partnerships.

Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of Kent State University at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of Kent State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of Kent State, since July 1, 2014.

On Monday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m., Kent State students, faculty and staff are invited to join a celebration at the Kent Student Center Ballroom where Kent State President Beverly Warren will shed light on the university’s new brand. This high-energy brand launch event will include live music, food and themed giveaways. 

The celebration then continues on Manchester Field with a special Light the Night Kent State bonfire with s’mores and an opportunity to be part of a unique experience that is undeniably Kent State.

Molly Merryman, Kent State University associate professor of sociology and founding director of the Kent State Women’s Center, has been awarded the university’s 2016 Diversity Trailblazer Award. The annual Diversity Trailblazer Award recognizes diversity pioneers associated with Kent State who have displayed exemplary contributions to the area of diversity in the university.

Aeronautics Program to receive a Cessna aircraft and an internship opportunity for a Kent State student 

Kent State University’s Aeronautics Program in the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology is one of four universities nationwide to be selected as a partner school for Cessna’s 2016 Top Hawk program. The program encourages the pursuit of careers in aviation and provides students access to industry-leading aircraft. The program also offers an internship opportunity for a Kent State student in the summer of 2016.

Kent State University held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC and author of “Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons and the Racial Divide.” A book signing and reception followed the event at the Kent Student Center Ballroom Balcony.
