Immunizations

Students are required to maintain documentation pertaining to clinical requirements and to produce required document on demand by the clinical agencies or the College of Nursing.

Students who do not comply with clinical requirements will not be permitted to attend clinical coursework and may result in course failure.

The College of Nursing and our clinical partners require that students maintain up to date immunization records. Kent State University immunization records are maintained by University Health Services in DeWeese Hall.  Upon admission into the Nursing sequence, students are required to submit to University Health Services the Immunization Compliance Form which requires a physical exam and your physician’s signature.

Be aware that some immunizations may require multiple visits to the physician.

  • TB test is required annually
  • Hepatitis B requires 3 injections over a 6 month period.

If a student becomes non-compliant at any point during the nursing program, they must provide UHS with updated immunization information.  Once immunizations have been completed, students should request a copy of their immunization compliance documentation by contacting UHS at 330-672-2326 or immunizations@kent.edu.

Compliance documentation must be shown to each clinical instructor prior to being permitted to return to that clinical.

Students are required to keep a copy of their immunization records with them during clinical and must be able to produce such documentation on demand.

Certain Hospitals may also require additional vaccinations on a case-by-case basis or in the event of an outbreak (e.g. Swine Flu).
