Nursing Master’s Degree: Clinical Nurse Specialist – Gerontology
Program Overview
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist concentration prepares advanced practice nurses to address health care needs of older adults. Opportunities for clinical nurse specialists in gerontology are forecasted to be in high demand from now up to year 2030. Students in the Clinical Nurse Specialist – Gerontology program are prepared to promote organizational effectiveness by supporting nursing and other healthcare disciplines in achieving patient centered outcomes. This dynamic Nursing Master’s Degree program also prepares students to:- Care for older adult patients with a broad and complex range of health care needs.
- Collaborate with nurses and a variety of other healthcare professionals and health agencies in order to render acute and long term restorative care and ongoing support to the oldest of clients.
- Provide direct care, consultation, education, research, program planning and evaluation across a variety of settings and the continuum of care
- Preparation for Adult Health certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- 500 hours of supervised clinical practice
- Mentoring and networking opportunities Full and part-time plans of study
- Many online course offerings
