Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist MSN and Post-Master's Certificate at Kent State University College of Nursing
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is awarded to successful graduates of the Clinical Nurse Specialist – Pediatrics program. This Nursing Master’s Degree is part of the Kent State University’s distinguished College of Nursing. If you’re interested in pursuing your Master’s Degree in Nursing, it’s time to discover how KSU can help you achieve your goals.
Clinical Nurse Specialists in Pediatrics assist with health promotion and assessment, illness prevention, risk identification and the acute and chronic care of children from birth to age 21. Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialists plan and individualize care for children and groups of children within the context of their families and communities in order to improve the quality of their lives.
The CNS role differs from the NP role in that the focus is population-focused care, family management and education and nursing staff support rather than direct treatment. Clinical Nurse Specialists in Pediatrics often provide education and support to staff nurses regarding implementation of evidenced-based practice and new technology.
Students interested in becoming Clinical Nurse Specialists in Pediatrics need to obtain a Master’s Degree in Nursing. They are then eligible to work in doctor's offices, hospitals, outpatient clinics and community health care agencies, non-profit businesses, home health care settings and schools.

Graduates of this Nursing Master’s Degree program will be eligible for the Pediatric CNS certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
