Nursing Graduation Requirements
Each nursing student should meet with their academic advisor if they are uncertain of their graduation date. Candidates for graduation should have a link to the application on their FlashLine account, under “Student Tools” during scheduled graduation application timelines . A late fee of $200 will be administered for all first-time applications submitted after the deadline.
Spring applications will be requested mid August
Summer applications will be requested mid November
Fall applications will be requested mid February
Please note: All graduation applications are only valid for the semester for which they were submitted. If you previously applied and were not approved for a prior semester you will need to submit a “Late/Reapplication” graduation application available in “Graduation Planning Tools” under the Student Tools tab of FlashLine. This application should be printed and submitted to the Office of Student Services for processing.
Apply for Graduation:
During the semester prior to your anticipated graduation Student Services will review your academic record and verify completion of degree requirements. Student Services will then send you written notification that the projected remaining coursework will meet degree requirements or if missing coursework is required. During your final semester you will also receive information on fingerprinting, photos, convocation and pin order information. Also, during that time Student Services will mail your senior photos, and send an email containing links to the Ohio Board of Nursing application, and the NCLEX Exam.
During your graduation semester you will receive information from Commencement/University Ceremonies about the actual commencement ceremony and ordering caps and gowns. For specific concerns regarding commencement please contact: Commencement Office (330) 672-2235 or you can visit the website at www.kent.edu/ksugraduation. Your application for graduation triggers all of the above actions, so please do not delay.
Once your degree has been posted, (which is typically several weeks following graduation) Student Services will send a letter of completion to the Ohio Board of Nursing. You will be responsible for scheduling your State Boards and NCLEX.
A NOTE ABOUT YOUR DIPLOMA: The name used on the Application for Graduation MUST be the same as the name that is officially registered with the university. This information will be used for graduation information, diplomas, NCLEX (state board) applications, etc., so please complete the information accurately. Also be aware that if you have "restricted" your personal information within the university, this information will be withheld and not listed in the commencement program or be released to the press. If you would like to remove your "restriction", you will need to make the change yourself in FlashLine ( http://flashline.kent.edu) prior to the end of your last semester. A name change requires presenting official documentation (marriage license or divorce decree) in person to the Registrar no less than one month before commencement. Have questions? Call (330) 672-3131.
