Kent Social Services

Feeding the hungry and providing emergency services to persons in the City of Kent and Franklin Township. Kent Social Services provides a hot meal program to those in need on Monday – Friday during the hours of 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. They also provide grocery assistance to families in need through their pantry program.  Kent Social Services serves, on average, 90 individuals a day. The Campus Kitchen Project at Kent State University will provide one meal a week to those served by Kent Social Services.

Center of Hope

Opened in November of 1989, its mission is to serve hot meals and provide an emergency food pantry, along with referral and advocacy services. Center of Hope serves meals to more than 150 individuals a day.

Freedom House

The Freedom House supports veterans in the Kent community by assisting them in secure permanent housing and connecting them to community resources in an effort to enhance their self-sufficiency. 

Miller Community House

Miller Community House exists to provide emergency shelter to adults and children in a housing crisis, while also providing support, advocacy, and referrals to encourage self-sufficiency and movement to permanent housing.

Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland

The Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland offers a place to call home at little to no cost so families can access the best health care, regardless of their location. The house enables families to focus on the health of their child and helps families create connections with other families, staff and volunteers.  

Women's Resource Center at Kent State University

The Women's Resource Center provides crisis intervention support, a food pantry and special events such as yoga and walking to the women of the Kent community.

Haven of Rest

Haven of Rest is a social service agency that provides emergency, residential, community and nutritional services to individuals in the northeast Ohio area.

King Kennedy Center

The King Kennedy Center is a multipurpose community center that works with residents to improve the overall living conditions in the community. 

Springtime of Hope

Springtime of Hope provides transitional supportive housing for men who have completed social service rehabilitation programs.  They also host a mobile outreach unit that provides coats, meals, tents and sleeping bags to those in need.
