Visitor and Event Parking:

Kent State University is a great place to visit!  Whether you are visiting a residence hall student, strolling through one of the beautiful gardens or attending one of the many athletic events, Parking Services has a place for you to park. The three most convenient parking options are:

  • Park and pay at a meter.

    • Meters around the residence halls are enforced 24/7.

  • Park at the Kent State Student Center* visitor's lot $6/day max per visit.
    • No charge after 6:30 p.m. Friday and on weekends.
  • Purchase a "One Day Only" permit for $2 from Parking Services for day-time parking.

Athletic Events:

Baseball: Park at the Allerton sports Complex.

Men's Basketball: Parking Services personnel will be available to assist with parking and traffic. Park in the following lots:  Student Center Visitor lot, R12 Schwartz Center lot & C-Schwartz Center lot.

Football: Limited parking is available at Dix Stadium.  For greater convenience fans are encouraged to park in one of the following parking lots along Summit Street and ride the free shuttle to Dix Stadium: Summit East, Campus Environment & Operations, C-Science Complex, Student Center, R12, C-Campus Center, and the C-Schwartz Center lot.

Golf: Golf Course parking lot located on State Route 59.

Gymnastics: Park at the Student Center visitor's lot $6/day max per visit. No charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends

Ice Hockey: Park in the Ice Arena parking lot.  Non-permit holders may purchase a temporary permit from the Pay-N-Display machine located in the parking lot outside the arena. Permits are not required from 6 p.m. Friday through 11 p.m. Sunday.

Track & Field: Park at the Field House parking lot.

Softball: Parking is available at Dix Stadium.

Soccer: Park at the Field House parking lot.

Volleyball: Park at the Student Center visitor's lot $6/day maximum per visit. No charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends.

Wrestling: Park at the Student Center visitor's lot $6/day max per visit. No charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends.

Visitors and Miscellaneous Events:

Residence Hall Visitors: Visitors to residence halls are required to obtain and display a valid permit in their vehicle. Visitors can obtain a free “after 4 p.m.” permit from any area desk.  It is valid in any “C” lot between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. and all day on weekends, or:

  • Park and pay at a meter.
    • Meters around the residence halls are enforced 24/7.
  • Park at the Student Center visitor's lot $6/day max per visit.
    • No charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends.
  • Purchase a “One Day Only” permit for $2 from Parking Services for day-time parking.
  • Purchase a temporary permit from the Pay-N-Display machine in the Ice Arena parking lot.  Permits are not required from 6 p.m. Friday through 11 p.m. Sunday in the Ice Arena lot.
  • Purchase an Evening Visitor parking permit to keep in the car. This permit costs $25 per semester, and is valid in any “C” lot between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. and all day on weekends.

University Health Services Visitor and Patient Parking:  Visitors and patients who have scheduled appointments at University Health Services may park in the R6 Health Services parking lot.  If a parking ticket is received during the visit, please take it to the University Health Services receptionist.

Students who are taking a test at the Office of Student Accessibility Services must park in their assigned parking lot.  Students may also park in the Ice Arena lot after purchasing a temporary parking permit from the Pay-n-Display machine located there.  You may not park in the Health Center parking lot while taking a test.  Students with a Kent State disability parking permit may park in the dedicated disabled parking spaces located in the Health Services parking lot.

Academic Discovery Days: All buses are to park at Dix Stadium unless otherwise instructed by Parking Services personnel.  Shuttle buses are available to transport the students to the Kent Student Center from the stadium. *Visitors driving personal vehicles may park in the Student Center visitor parking lot for $6/day max per visit. No charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends.

Academic Department Visitors: Visitors to academic departments may obtain a visitor's permit from the department's secretary. Call the department prior to your visit for parking instructions.

Commencement: Students and guests attending commencement may park in the following lots:  Student Center Visitor lot, R12 Schwartz Center lot & C-Schwartz Center lot (next to the R12 lot), R7 Bowman Hall lot, R2 Business Administration Building lot, R3 Taylor Hall lot, and the C-Campus Center Drive lot.

Human Resource Services and Solutions: HRSS is located on Baumgardner Circle off Midway Drive, which is off St. Rt. 59. Visitor parking is located in front of the building.  Visitors must register their license plate number and sign the visitor's log upon entrance to the department.

Ice Arena and Ice Hockey: Non-permit holders may purchase a temporary permit from the Pay-N-Display machine located in the parking lot outside the Ice Arena. Permits are not required from 6 p.m. Friday through 11 p.m. Sunday.

Kent Student Center Visitors: Visitor parking is available for $6/max per visit (no charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends) at the Kent Student Center Visitor lot located in front of the Student Center on Summit Street. There are also meters located in various lots around the Student Center for your use. The Kent Student Center is host to a variety of businesses which include casual dining, an internet café, banking and the University bookstore. Some conference, workshop and events held at the Student Center have pre-arranged parking.  Contact your event coordinator for details.

Kent State University Museum Visitors: The museum is located at the corner of State Route 59 and Lincoln Street. Visitor parking spaces are located adjacent to the building in the R1 Rockwell parking lot.  Visitors must register their vehicle license plate number and sign the visitor's log upon entrance to the museum.

May 4th Memorial: Parking meters are located in and around the Taylor Hall parking lot located off Midway Drive.

Schwartz Center Visitors: Visitors to the Schwartz Center can obtain a temporary permit by stopping at the booth located directly beyond the entrance to the R-12 parking lot. Some of the more highly visited offices include:

  • Admissions
  • Bursar's Office
  • Career Services
  • Financial Aid
  • Parking Services
  • Procurement
  • Registrar's Office

Portage Hike & Bike Trail: Visitors to Kent State's Portage Hike and Bike Trail connector will enjoy protected woods, wetlands and prairie remnants that offer beautiful scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities.  Kent State University has reserved free 4-hour parking in the Summit East lot and at Dix Stadium for those persons using the trail.

Student Recreation and Wellness Center: Non-permit holders may purchase a temporary permit from the Pay-N-Display machine located in the lot outside the SRWC. Permits are not required from 6 p.m. Friday through 11 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors with Disabilities: Disability parking spaces are located in most every lot on campus. Please view the Campus Map for specific locations.

Workshops: Parking for workshops is coordinated through the Department of Continuing Studies.  *Participants may also park at the Student Center visitor's lot $6/day maximum per visit. No charge after 6 p.m. Friday and on weekends.

Music and Speech Building/Roe Green Center Visitors attending performing arts venues in:

  • Ludwig Recital Hall
  • Wright-Curtis Theater
  • E. Turner Stump Theater 
  • Erdmann-Zucchero Black Box Theater
may park in either of the parking lots that are adjacent to the Music and Speech building or in the large commuter parking lot located off Theatre drive. There is no charge for special event parking in these lots after 5 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends.

*Kent Student Center Visitors lot rates:

$2 first hour $1 each hour thereafter up to $6/max per visit Rates are calculated in 15-minute increments.
