The staff in the office of Student Accessibility Services at Kent State University heartily welcomes you to the university and to our office. We encourage you to peruse our site, call and ask questions, schedule a visit or an appointment, or just stop by to see where we’re located (Ground Floor, DeWeese Center).
The mission of Student Accessibility Services is to provide students with disabilities equal opportunity to participate in, contribute to, and benefit from all university programs, services and activities. In addition to complying with legal mandates set forth in Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (and the ADA as amended in 2008), as well as the university’s policy of non-discrimination (3-01.3), the office aims to provide services to students and consultative expertise that is cutting-edge and nationally recognized.
We encourage students, particularly new students, to take full advantage of all the campus resources available to them – from Student Accessibility Services (disability-related services) to the Academic Success Center (tutoring and Supplemental Instruction) to the Career Services Center (student employment and career planning) to Psychological Services (counseling) to Academic Advising (course planning and scheduling) to the Center for Student Involvement (student organizations and clubs), and many more – as all these university offices exist to help students be as successful during their time at Kent State as they possibly can.
