Fall 2013 Student Workers
Shannen Laur, Senior Public Relations Major
Shannen Laur is a senior public relations major from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is her third semester at Flash and is currently an assistant. Shannen is the Co-Vice President of Fundraising for the PRSSA Kent chapter. She also has experience interning at an event planning agency in Pittsburgh, was the College of Communication and Information beat reporter for the Daily Kent Stater and was part of the 2013 Bateman Case Study Competition. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in a public relations agency, travel PR or event planning.
Bryan Webb, Junior Public Relations Major
Bryan Webb is a junior public relations major from Parma Heights, Ohio. He is currently an assistant at Flash Communications and was the Consumer Technology Beat Reporter for the Daily Kent Stater last spring. He is also the Chaplain and Public Relations Chairman for the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He hopes to continue to develop strong writing skills and build a portfolio while working at Flash. This summer, Bryan hopes to have an internship with a record label in Nashville and pursue a career in the music business or entertainment industry after graduation.
Kelli Fitzpatrick, Senior Magazine Journalism Major
Kelli Fitzpatrick is a senior magazine journalism major from New Middletown, Ohio. She has reported and edited for the Daily Kent Stater and Fusion magazine since her first semester at Kent State. This is her first foray into public relations writing. She wants to learn about what is different about writing for a communications group and add writing examples to her portfolio. After graduating in May 2014, Kelli will pursue a career in magazines or public relations in New York City or Los Angeles.
Wezley Garlick, Senior Public Relations Major
Wezley Garlick is a senior public relations major from Middletown, Delaware. He is a member of Kent State’s PRSSA chapter and as a beat reporter for the Daily Kent Stater, covered the Honors College and International Affairs. Wezley served as the Director of Public Relations for Black United Students at Kent State for the 2012-2013 year. He interned with the Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball team for the summer of 2013. During his time at Flash, Wezley hopes to enhance his portfolio and strengthen his writing skills. After graduation, he would like to pursue a career in sports PR.
Hannah Hamner, Senior Public Relations Major
Hannah Hamner is a senior public relations student from Buffalo, New York. This is her first semester at Flash Communications, but she also interned at Western New York United Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse during the summer of 2012. She feels the skills she acquired during the PR Campaigns course have best prepared her for her life after graduation. During the class, she combined forces with other students to create a hypothetical campaign for a real-life client. This semester, she is also tackling the national PRSSA Bateman Competition. After studying abroad last spring in Madrid, Spain, Hannah has acquired a desire to travel around the globe and hopes her involvement in Flash this semester will help develop the skills that will propel her toward this goal.
Morgan Jupina, Junior Public Relations Major
Morgan Jupina is a junior public relations major from Olmsted Falls, Ohio. She is a member of Kent State’s PRSSA Chapter and the national 2014 PRSSA Bateman Competition. As a beat reporter for the Daily Kent Stater, Morgan covered the School of Fashion Design and Merchandising. She interned with the communications department at ShurTech Brands, LLC. for the summer of 2013. Morgan hopes to enhance her professional writing and communication skills during her time at Flash. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a job in agency or fashion PR.
Emily Komorowski, Junior Public Relations Major
Emily Komorowski is a junior public relations major with a marketing minor from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is currently the PRSA/PRSSA Liaison for the PRSSA Kent chapter and also serves as the Director of Public Relations for the Delta Gamma Fraternity. Emily was a beat reporter for the Daily Kent Stater covering undergraduate and graduate affairs. While at Flash Communications, she hopes to improve her writing skills and build her portfolio. After graduation, Emily hopes to pursue a career in agency or travel PR.
Grace Snyder, Senior English Major
Grace Snyder is a senior English major from Macedonia, Ohio. For the past three years, Grace has been a member of the Honors College and is a sister of Delta Zeta sorority. She is a student worker at the College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office and was the Vice President of Public and Alumni Relations for the Panhellenic Council. In her free time, Grace enjoys watching films and reviewing them on her movie blog. Grace hopes to gain valuable communication and writing skills during her internship at Flash Communications this semester. Upon graduating in May, Grace plans to attend graduate school for film studies and pursue a career in the film industry.
