IS Server Support
The I.S. Server Support group (ISSS) is responsible for maintaining a secure, reliable, and robust platform for the university’s core critical information resources. We also provide enterprise-class consulting, server, and storage resources to university departments.
This site will soon contain detailed information about our services and how to obtain them. Among the services we offer are:
Platform Architecture Consulting
We help assess the performance, availability and security needs of your application and provide actionable recommendations adaptable to various budget, time, and personnel requirements.
Directory Services integration
We can help you integrate your applications with various campus directory services for authentication and authorization services, including LDAP and Active Directory.
Virtual Servers
We provide multiple sizes of cost-effective virtual servers to support most x86 applications. Along with these servers comes 24x7 monitoring and support.
Physical Servers
For applications with requirements too large or unique for a virtual server, we will purchase, install, and maintain an appropriately sized physical server for you. Just like virtual servers, we provide complete 24x7 monitoring and support.
Department or Group Shared File Storage
We provide enterprise-class file sharing services to university departments in sizes ranging from 50 gigabytes up to multiple terabytes.
To request any of these services, please contact the Helpdesk at 330-672-4357 or online at http://support.kent.edu/. For more information or to discuss these services in in detail, please contact Todd Ryan at 330-672-1652 or via email at tmryan@kent.edu.
