This morning I notified the Provost that the next academic year (2013-14) will be my last in the deanship. My last day as dean will be June 30, 2014, which will complete 11 years in this position.
It has been my privilege and honor to serve as your dean, and accepting the offer extended to me ten years ago was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I hope you agree that our College is stronger today than it has ever been; this has resulted from the dedicated efforts of the outstanding administrative team with which I have been privileged to work, the dedication the faculty has shown to providing a high-quality program for our students, the efforts of a very strong staff, and the seemingly unbounded willingness of our alumni to give both time and financial resources to make us better.
That being said, the legal profession is changing in profound ways, and our ongoing efforts to improve our academic programs and provide our students with the best training available to prepare them to succeed in this rapidly evolving environment need to continue. I look forward to working with you this year in this ongoing process and thereafter as a colleague on the faculty.
I am grateful for all of your help and support, and it has been an honor to serve the College as your dean.
