From the Chair

The Department of Economics and Business provides programs of study for those who plan careers as economists, accountants, or administrators in private enterprise, government, or education.

An extensive background of training in economics, accounting, and business administration is usually required for those who plan to function in various professional capacities, including economic and business forecasters, financial analysts, investment advisers, comptrollers, auditors, management services specialists, tax auditors, agricultural economists, export-import managers, market researchers, marketing managers, labor mediators, human resource administrators, urban planners, consumer education specialists, bankers, business managers, and lawyers or specialists in tax and estate planning or corporation law. The Department of Economics and Business offers students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s degree in the following three majors: economics, accounting, and business administration. Additionally, students can earn a master of science in accounting or a master of science in business with an emphasis in finance, human resources management, and international business.

The degree programs offered by the Department are designed to equip students with the necessary competencies for successful careers in business enterprises, government or non-profit organizations, education, and research.
