Students will spend the first half of the program in Santiago, where they will spend time learning in the classroom, visiting archives and memorials, and engaging with guest speakers and community activists. The second half of the program consists of fieldwork outside of Santiago. Students will travel to a Native American Mapuche community in the south of Chile for training and experience in community outreach and needs assessment, interview techniques, institutional observation and the documentation of human rights situations of indigenous and otherwise underserved Chilean people.Location: Santiago, Chile

These expenses are made payable to the office of Study Abroad at Lehman College, usually in three installments, and before the start of the program. Payment deadlines will be announced soon after acceptance into the program.
Informed by expected arrival and departure dates, students will purchase their own flights, which they often do after attending their first program orientation along with other program participants.
Entry reciprocity fee
Upon entering the country, American citizens are expected to pay a reciprocity fee, to be paid in cash (US dollars) or credit card. Non-US citizens should consult with the Chilean Embassy.
