Testing and Scholarship

The Office of Academic Testing and Scholarships implements the University's testing regulations and procedures. We provide information on support services available to students to help them meet the University's testing requirements.

The scholarship unit within the office is dedicated to assuring that scholarship funds are used to recruit, retain, and help students graduate. It also assists students with obtaining external scholarship opportunities.

The office is committed to providing a supportive and friendly environment with excellent customer service while maintaining the integrity of the University's testing polices and the various scholarship criteria.

The following is a summation of the standardized CUNY-wide exams administered by the Office of Testing and Scholarship:

  • The CUNY Assessment Tests in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
CUNY uses these tests to ensure that entering freshmen and transfer students from outside of CUNY meet minimum requirements in reading, writing, and mathematics. The skills assessment tests are also used to place students into the appropriate sequence of writing and mathematics courses.
