THIS WEEK’S NEWS
CONVENIENCE FEE INCREASING TO 2.90% - EFFECTIVE JULY 2012
Credit card processing fees are a part of doing business that Higher Education can no longer afford.
- Beginning in March 2010, Macon State College took the first step towards eliminating these costs by transitioning to the HigherOne OnePay online payment processor and moving 1% of the credit card processing fee cost to the student as a convenience fee.
- In July 2011, CASHNet ePayment replaced the OnePay product. At that time, the convenience fee paid by the student increased to 1.45% and Macon State continued to pay the remaining 1.45%.
- As we enter the 2012-2013 Academic Year and Fiscal Year 2013, Macon State will no longer absorb these fees. Effective July 2012, the 2.90% credit card processing fee (convenience fee) associated with online use of MasterCard, Discover, or American Express thru our HigherOne CASHNet ePayment system will be paid by the student.
This step also puts us in line with our Consolidation partner, Middle Georgia College, which currently charges the full convenience fee to their students. For online payment info, go to:
