Carol received a certificate of accomplishment, a one-year’s membership to PSLA, a complimentary registration for the conference and lodging at the Hershey Lodge. She was recognized with her peers from other library schools at the Conference Breakfast on May 2, as well as at the Conference Banquet.

Carol is married to Ed Wanyo and has two children, Jerry and Stacy Gelgot, and two step-children, Edward and John Wanyo. She is also the daughter of Thomas Hydock and the late Adrienne Hydock. Carol and her daughter Stacy both received their Masters of Education Degree in School Libraries and Information Technology from Mansfield University in August, each maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Carol Wanyo is employed by the Hazleton Area School District as a teacher/librarian. She teaches in four schools this year: Freeland Elementary/Middle School, Heights Terrace Elementary/Middle School, McAdoo Kelayres Elementary School, and West Hazleton Elementary/Middle School where she has the responsibility of caring for the libraries and the information literacy instructional needs of over 3,600 students—an impossible task for anyone if the educational needs of our students are to be achieved.
