Welcome

The Department of Earth Sciences offers comprehensive programs of study leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Meteorology, Ocean Sciences and Coastal Studies, and Geology. We also offer a program for earning a Bachelor of Arts in Earth Sciences, with a new option in Environmental Geology, and a Bachelor of Science in Education in Earth Science with a teaching certification in Earth and Space Science.

Wes Burgett

Wesley Burgett (METEO'93), operations manager of the West Texas Mesonet,  accepts the Larry R. Johnson Special Award from National Weather Association President John Scala. The award is presented to an individual or a group to recognize unique events or extraordinary accomplishments which significantly contribute to operational meteorology. The NOAA Office of Education has awarded two Millersville Meteorology students for their oral presentations as part of the 2008 Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Jim Kurdzo (1st Place NWS division) and Alex Davies (2nd Place NESDIS division). 


Clark Award
Dr. Richard Clark, meteorology professor and department chair,  is presented the 2008 AMS Teaching Excellence Award “for his enthusiasm and dedication to outstanding teaching and mentoring, and exceptional contribution to the professional development of students in the atmospheric sciences.”
