Northeastern University strives to create a thriving, vibrant and tolerant environment that provides equal opportunities for all members of the African-American community.
NU recognizes and appreciates the diversity that exists not only within the members that were born in the United States but also within members throughout the African diaspora. It supports the experience, perspective and intellect that enriches the entire community.
Although great strides have been made within the black community, NU recognizes that there is still much work to be done. It is a major priority of this institution to protect the progress that has been made and keep the doors open to all that seek the knowledge behind them.
The president's African-American Advisory Committee on Diversity was established to promote greater awareness of the African-American community on campus, advance its interests and enhance communication within the community and the rest of the campus. The advisory group is drawn from administrative and academic departments across Northeastern. It seeks input and ideas on enhancing the campus environment for all of its members of color.
