Welcome from Dean Fulmer
Dear Bouvé Community:
As I write this, I am filled with the anticipation and excitement that comes with engaging in a new professional role. It is an honor for me to join you as Dean of the Bouvé College of Health Sciences. I know I will spend the first phase of my deanship listening, learning, and coming to know all of the remarkable people and programs that form the tableau we project to both the campus and the world. Our college has the ‘buzz’ of being on the move, and this is certainly evident to all who are watching. I am inspired by President Aoun’s leadership, the momentum he is shaping, and the promise of things to come.
Health and healthcare are at the heart of a just and humane society, and our University has made health one of the three cornerstones of our mission. With this opportunity comes great expectations and responsibilities from each of us. I am convinced that the Bouvé community is not only ready, but also eager to continue the advancement of health science and policy as core to what will define Northeastern University in the future. Our faculty are world renowned for their capacity to bring alive the teaching and learning that take place in both the class and all the communities we know as co-op. Our students are exceptionally bright, highly motivated and eager to be a part of our mission. Our alumni will be watching us carefully to ensure their legacy is honored and enriched with each passing year.
As our nation continues to analyze how to improve the health of the public in the context of difficult economic circumstances, finite resources, and sometimes conflicting evidence, Bouvé can and will lead the way to important solutions, shaped by the interdisciplinary frame that is signature to our college and our university.
I wish to extend my personal thanks to Dean Zoloth for his outstanding leadership and for his warm welcome. I look forward to meeting all of you as the semester progresses, and will be hosting a number of forums to say hello and hear your good ideas. Thank you all for what I know will be a truly exceptional opportunity to lead at this exciting moment in Northeastern’s history.
