Important Reminders

YOUR DIPLOMA: Degree candidates must complete the Apply to Graduate option and complete the questionnaire. Take the time to provide your name as you want it
to be printed on your diploma and in the commencement program. Be
clear. Be precise. Be accurate.
• The major will be printed on diplomas for only non-specified degrees (Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Arts).
• Changes made to your name after the diploma has been printed
may be subject to a $50 fee and may not be corrected until after
commencement.
•Changes made to your degree information and name submitted
after March 15 will not be noted in the commencement program.

STUDENT LOAN OBLIGATIONS: An exit interview is mandatory if you
have received a Federal Perkins, Health Professions, Nursing, Physician
Assistant, and/or Federal Stafford Student Loan. Your tickets, invitations,
and diploma will not be released until the Exit Interview is complete.
The Student Loan Collections Office, along with the Office of Student
Financial Services will be contacting you with further details and session
dates for completing this process.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS: You must fulfill all financial obligations to
the University prior to the release of your diploma. Your current balance,
including any balance also owed on a payment plan, must be paid in full.
If this obligation is not fulfilled until after Commencement, you must
contact the Commencement Office at 617.373.4098 for the release of
your diploma.

HONOR CORDS: Will be given to qualifying bachelor’s degree
candidates only. They will be handed out during the student line-up
process prior to the ceremony.
Graduating with honors is reserved for Bachelor’s degree candidates who have completed a minimum of 72 credits of work (with the exception of the RN to BSN program which requires 65 credits) at the College of Professional Studies and who have demonstrated distinctly superior academic achievement as evidenced by the following cumulative Quality Point Averages:
-Graduation with Honor (cum laude): 3.250 to 3.499
-Graduation with High Honor (magna cum laude): 3.500 to 3.749
-Graduation with Highest Honor (summa cum laude): 3.750 to 4.000
*Transfer credit is not considered in determining the Quality Point Average.

MAILING/ADDRESS INFORMATION: Be sure to update your postgraduation
mailing address information via Apply to Graduate. Please
note that this action does not update your information with the Office
of the Registrar. Changes to your permanent address should also be
updated on myNEU.
