Health Professions
Whether students are interested in preparing for medical school or a career in a health care–related field, Northeastern is the best place to start. We’re just blocks from the world’s top hospitals and research facilities in a region known for cutting-edge biotechnology firms. Our co-op program allows students to experience them, as well as opportunities in locations across the country and around the world.
Most Northeastern students who are aiming for a career in the health professions major in a health-related field or the life sciences. This approach gives health care-track students the opportunity to experience co-op in a variety of settings, from research labs to hospital emergency rooms.
Co-op opportunities related to our health care majors include physical therapy positions with rehabilitation hospitals and clinics, schools, and camps for children with disabilities; in public health services and health organizations working in the areas of health care policy, research, and statistics; in nursing positions with hospitals and health clinics; and in pharmacy positions with pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, research laboratories, retail pharmacies, and hospitals.
In the life sciences and related majors in the College of Science, the majority of the co-op positions are in research settings, either with biotechnology and biomedical companies, university or hospital laboratories, or private bioscience labs.
