Northeastern University Housing Cancellation Deadlines

Cancellation Deadlines

Cancellation Process and Deadlines

Students have the option of canceling their housing under certain circumstances and prior to deadlines.

Cancellation

As a first or second year student, you are required to live on campus your first two years at the University, however, you can cancel your housing if you are co-oping outside of the Boston area, studying abroad, taking a medical leave of absence or withdrawing from the University. If any of the those situations apply to you, please e-mail housing@neu.edu with your name, NUID number, the semester you are looking to cancel, as well as the reason and we will begin the cancellation process. If you are looking to cancel your on campus housing and none of the above situations apply to you, please set up a meeting with the first year housing coordinator, Luciana Jean-Mary, to discuss your options moving forward.

As a third year + student, you can cancel at anytime and receive your deposit back as long as you cancel in accordance with the cancellation schedule below. If you cancel after the first deadline, you will lose your deposit and be assessed a certain percent of the term room charge. You can cancel your housing at any time, regardless of the cancellation schedule, if you are co-oping outside of the Boston area, studying abroad, taking a medical leave of absence or withdrawing from the University.

PLEASE NOTE:

Your advisor (Financial Aid, Study Abroad, Academic, or Co-op) cannot cancel your housing contract. You must request the cancellation by e-mail to housing@neu.edu.
