Northeastern University at BIO 2007

(5-7-07) Several Northeastern University researchers are taking part in the BIO International Convention, the biotechnology industry’s signature annual event, attracting more than 20,000 biotechnology executives, scientists, policymakers and journalists from around the world.  This year’s conference, themed “New Ideas. Bold Ventures. Global Benefits.”, is taking place May 6-9 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.  The convention is sponsored by BIO, the world's largest biotechnology organization with more than 1,100 members worldwide, and features dozens of sessions covering biotech trends, policy issues and technological innovations.

Among those from Northeastern taking an active role in the conference:

• Barry Karger, PhD, the James L. Waters Chair in Analytical Chemistry and Director of The Barnett Institute will take part in a panel session on Monday, May 07, 2007 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM in room 258 B on the topic of “Proteomics: A Strategy for Translating Discoveries to the Cancer Clinic.”

• Mansoor Amiji, RPh, PhD, Professor and Associate Department Chairman in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Co-Director of Nanomedicine Education and Research Consortium (NERC), will take part in a panel discussion on Wednesday, May 09, 2007 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM in room 258 B on “Cancer Nanotechnology for Early Diagnosis and Therapy”

Northeastern University also has a booth in the Massachusetts Pavilion (Booth #533/C34) and posters in the Innovation Corridor by the following professors: Joseph Ayers, Robert Hanson, Volkmar Weissig, Sarathi Boddapati, Greg Kowalski, Bill Detrich, Nasser Fard, Paul Vouros, Roger Kautz, and Donald O’Malley.
