Husky Hugs
Husky Hugs makes 600 children smile
For the third holiday season in a row, Northeastern's Student Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Relations teamed up to run a teddy bear drive for hospitals, homeless shelters, and local children in need of a "Husky Hug."
The drive worked collaboratively with the Stony Brook Initiative at Northeastern relying on the participation of three Stony Brook neighborhood organizations: Boston Medical Center (BMC) Pediatrics, Casa Myrna Vasquez, and the Home for Little Wanderers.
The university community donated 600 teddy bears. This year, with the help of Northeastern’s regional alumni chapters, the bears were donated through charities in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Fairfield, Conn., in addition to the three Boston partner organizations.
Student Alumni Association members presented bears to children at BMC on February 14. “It's about reaching out the community at a time that can be very difficult for people who may be a bit less fortunate,” said Caitlan Nee, Northeastern's associate director of student alumni connections.
