The Eatonville Library is located in the Town of Eatonville's Zora Neale Hurston Square. Eatonville is known as the oldest incorporated African American municipality in the United States.

The Eatonville Branch is a children's library featuring material and programming for children through the sixth grade. The branch serves the residents that make up the four residential quadrants of Eatonville - Calhoun, Catalina Park, Eaton Pointe, and Lake Lovely Estates. The collection, programs, and services are also available to all Orange County residents including residents of the City of Maitland and Winter Park through reciprocal borrowing.

Family Nutrition Program: Eating Smart Being Active

Family Nutrition Program participants will learn about healthy eating and being active. Groups meet for a series of 8 easy lessons that are both fun and interactive. You will prepare and taste new recipes at each lesson. This program is intended for adults if you have children and are eligible for assistance programs, such as SNAP, WIC, or Head Start. Space is limited to 15 registrants.

Services and Programs

  • The children's library collection includes books, audio books, informational and entertainment DVDs, and music CDs.
  • Public computers offer Internet access, educational games (TuxPaint, Blue’s Clues School, Ancient History, I Spy Fantasy, Exploring the World of Thomas Day, Inspiration 7.5, Little Bill Thinks Big, and Zoo Tycoon), word processing and online reference resources including the Library catalog.
  • One meeting room is available for use by groups. Please contact the branch for more information.
  • Regularly scheduled Smarty pants each week. Smarty pants is a fun - filled story program with a learning twist that teaches, motivates, and entertains.
  • Various programs and displays for and about children are offered throughout the year. A special feature at Eatonville is the artwork piece "The Duck Farm" by local artist W. Parry Dolle. The piece won "Best in Show" at the 34th Annual Fiesta in the Park in 2005. The Fiesta Committee purchased the artwork piece and donated it to the Library.
  • The branch has one Early Literacy Station (ELS) which is a self-contained bilingual educational computer for children, with over 56 top-rated educational software programs spanning seven curricular areas.
