Build your own apps and video games, mix music, design graphics, record, edit and add special effects to movies, build 3D models, explore electronics and much more! Melrose Camps

The Orlando Public Library is featuring week-long, 2-hour camp-style sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, for kids and teens! Get hands-on in filming, audio production, graphic design and photography. Join in the fun at the Fab Lab with fun and exciting projecting in combining science and technology. A materials fee of $25 applies for each camp. Registration is required with a Library card in good standing. Seats are limited, so register today!

Most classes are free to Orange County district resident cardholders, Fee cardholders, and Orange County Property Owner cardholders. Some classes include a fee to cover the cost of used materials. Users who reside outside the Library's service area may attend by paying a non-refundable fee at time of registration prior to class time. Please check event details for applicable fees. Where they apply, registration fees must be paid prior to class time. To pay for your class please call us at 407.835.7323 or visit any of our locations in person. A $5 late cancellation fee will be assessed if cancellation is not made the day prior. Registration is required.

The Melrose Center will feature week-long, 2-hour camp-style sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. A materials fee of $25 applies for each camp. Registration is required with a Library card in good standing. Seats are limited, so register today! Join other teens to design and create your very own comic book. Along the way you'll learn about storyboarding, photo studio equipment, photo editing, typography, pen tablets, button making, and so much more! Day 1: Intro to Cameras and Storyboarding: Design and create a storyboard to begin crafting scenes for your comic book. Learn about DSLR cameras and lenses. Day 2: Photo Shoot and Editing: Work as a team to create photo studio images. Learn how to work with photo studio equipment and lighting set ups. Use Adobe Photoshop to enhance your images and apply effects and filters. Day 3: Design and Typography Using Adobe Illustrator: Design a logo, action words, and speech bubbles for your comic book using Adobe Illustrator. Create a custom pin-backed badge using one of your designs! Day 4: Digital Graphics Using Pen Tablets: Use a Wacom Pen Tablet to design a cover for your comic book. Composite images and drawings using Adobe Photoshop. Day 5: Desktop Publishing Using Adobe InDesign: Design the layout of each page in your comic book in Adobe InDesign. Adjust page setup options to prepare it for printing. Print and assemble your comic book. Day 6: Showcase: The spotlight is on you! On the last day of the camp, you'll have a chance to present your awesome comic book and story to your family, friends, and others who will attend the camp's Showcase event.
