Flight Simulator Orientation & Assessment

Learn to fly with a professional flight simulator using realistic flight controls. Instruction will cover the use of the equipment and software. After completing the instruction take an assessment that will allow you to reserve the flight simulator during scheduled lab time. ASSESSMENT REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: To register for this orientation and/or assessment, cardholders must attend the General Orientation for the Melrose Center and must be at least 18 years of age. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted. #tic #simtic

Melrose Kids Camp: Photo and Graphic Design

Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Melrose Center

The Melrose Center will feature week-long, 2-hour camp-style sessions Saturdays starting November 15 and ending December 13. Sessions begin at 10:30am and end at 12:30pm. A materials fee of $25 applies for each camp. Registration is required with a Library card in good standing. Seats are limited, so register today! Join other teens to design and create your very own comic book. Along the way you'll learn about storyboarding, photo studio equipment, photo editing, typography, pen tablets, button making, and so much more! Day 1: Intro to Cameras and Storyboarding: Design and create a storyboard to begin crafting scenes for your comic book. Learn about DSLR cameras and lenses. Day 2: Photo Shoot and Editing: Work as a team to create photo studio images. Learn how to work with photo studio equipment and lighting set ups. Use Adobe Photoshop to enhance your images and apply effects and filters. Day 3: Design and Typography Using Adobe Illustrator: Design a logo, action words, and speech bubbles for your comic book using Adobe Illustrator. Create a custom pin-backed badge using one of your designs! Day 4: Digital Graphics Using Pen Tablets: Use a Wacom Pen Tablet to design a cover for your comic book. Composite images and drawings using Adobe Photoshop. Day 5: Desktop Publishing Using Adobe InDesign: Design the layout of each page in your comic book in Adobe InDesign. Adjust page setup options to prepare it for printing. Print and assemble your comic book. Space is limited. Being on the Payment Waiting list does not guarantee a seat. Audio Studio Orientation and Assessment: Live Room

Tour the Audio Studio Live Room. Learn the studio workflow, procedures and best practices. Assessments will be offered as part of the orientation. Prior to booking the Audio Studio Live Room, users must participate in this assessment to show proficiency in using the equipment. A Live Room booking does not include access to the Control Room, the C24 Control Surface, or Pro Tools software. Recordings made in the Live Room do not provide a file that allows separate channel editing.
