Get Out And Walk!

South Creek Library's Newest Program: Get Out And Walk! At 8:30am we will meet for a walk around the area. Bring your friends, kids, stroller, and/or well-behaved pets. We will take a walk of about 1/2 mile, and increase that distance each week. If desired participants are encouraged to collect any trash that they may find, or take photos of any wildlife they encounter along the way. Be rewarded afterwards with light refreshments provided at the branch!

Forklift Simulator Orientation & Assessment

Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Melrose Center   Registration Required

Learn to drive a forklift in lifelike warehouse conditions. Practice moving freight with realistic controls. Instruction will cover the use of the equipment and software. After completing the instruction take an assessment that will allow you to reserve the Forklift simulator during scheduled lab time. Cardholders must be 18 years old or older. Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.

Video Studio Assessment

Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Melrose Center   Registration Required

Prior to booking a studio, we ask that users participate in a studio-specific orientation and successfully complete a brief assessment. To register for this assessment, cardholders must be 18 years old or older. Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age). ASSESSMENT REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: Must attend the Video Studio Access Orientation.

Audio Equipment Training: Digital Audio Workstation

Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Melrose Center   Registration Required

This class will introduce students to the Melrose Center Digital Audio Workstation. Students will learn how to perform essential tasks in Pro Tools 11, including how to record microphone signal to tracks, import audio and save files to various media. This class helps prepare students for the Audio Assessment covering these topics.

Tiny Tales

Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Orlando Public Library

These programs, especially for infants from birth to 18 months, last approximately 15 minutes. The rhythm and repetition of nursery rhymes are used to introduce very young children to literature. Hold your child in your lap and enjoy this special time together.

General Orientation for the Melrose Center

This orientation is your key to accessing the creative and collaborative spaces in the Melrose Center. Get an overview of the Photography Studio, Video Production Studio, Audio Production Studio, FabLab and Simulation Lab. Explore upcoming classes and workshops and learn about the best practices to maximize your experience. This orientation is free to out-of-county residents, but registration is required. Toddler Time

Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Orlando Public Library

Stories and activities for children aged 18 to 36 months. The programs last approximately 20 minutes. The use of picture books, finger plays, songs, poetry and Mother Goose rhymes, and flannel board stories will encourage the development of verbal and listening skills for this active age group.
