Tiny Tales

These programs, especially for infants from birth to 18 months, last approximately 15 minutes. The rhythm and repetition of nursery rhymes are used to introduce very young children to literature. Hold your child in your lap and enjoy this special time together.

Melrose Reservation: Photo Studio (2 hrs) (CLOSED)

Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Melrose Center

Photo Studio reservations can be made by Melrose members with Photo Studio access credentials. For more information on how to become a member of the Melrose Center, visit ocls.info/melrose. You must be present for the duration of the session and ensure that all users follow the Terms of Use (ocls.info/MelroseTerms) and Library Rules of Conduct (ocls.info/RulesOfConduct). RESERVING TIME IN THE CENTER A Cardholder can make a reservation in-person at the Center or call 407-835-7323. If a Cardholder is 15 minutes or more late to their Studio reservation time, access to the Studio will not be granted, and a $25 Late Cancellation/No Show fee will be assessed to the Cardholder's account. Any reservation must be cancelled not later than 11:59 pm three days prior to the reservation time in order to avoid the Late Cancellation fee. For instance, if a reservation was made for anytime on Friday, the cancellation must be made no later than 11:59 pm on the prior Tuesday. These same cancellation rules apply for weekend days as the Center is open 7 days. Setup, breakdown, saving of work, and clean-up times are built into, are part of, and will not extend the reservation time. The studio must be restored back to its original condition by the Cardholder before the end of the reservation time. There is no grace period. Failure to check out by the end of the reservation time will result in a $25 fee. Members and guest accessing studios, editing bays and sound booths are required to sign the Melrose Center Terms of Use. Toddler Time

Stories and activities for children aged 18 to 36 months. The programs last approximately 20 minutes. The use of picture books, finger plays, songs, poetry and Mother Goose rhymes, and flannel board stories will encourage the development of verbal and listening skills for this active age group.

Citizenship Inspired (Week 2 of 3)

Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Southeast Branch   Registration Required

During this 3-week program, students will meet once each week to prepare for the U.S. Naturalization (Citizenship) Test and Interview. To be eligible for U.S. Naturalization, you must be able to read, write, and speak basic English. Registration is required. To register, you can do so online, call 407-835-7323 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 407-835-7323 end_of_the_skype_highlighting or stop by any of our locations. This program is for adult learners, and is available for free to Orange County district resident cardholders, Fee cardholders, and Orange County Property Owner cardholders. If you do not have a card or have a different type of card, please call 407-835-7323 or stop by any of our locations for more information. Any person requiring special accommodations to participate in a class or program due to a disability may arrange for reasonable accommodations by contacting the location at which the event is held at least seven days prior to the event.

Practice Makes Perfect

Fall in Love with Genealogy! Family History Fair

Saturday, February 13, 2016 at West Oaks Branch

Fall in love with genealogy and join us at the West Oaks Branch Library and Genealogy Center Family History Fair. Celebrate the one year anniversary of our Grand Re- Opening. Explore your roots! If you are a beginner, this free event can help you get started researching your family history. Experienced genealogists can learn tips about additional resources to aid in your research. The Central Florida Genealogical Society, other local lineage & family history societies, & West Oaks Library staff will be available to share information on how to research & document your family history in the 21st century. There will be sessions on several genealogy topics & classes offered on online genealogy resources. Staff will share information about materials, equipment and resources as well as provide research assistance and answer questions. Bring your family & friends to this day of fun and exploration!
